SpeakIt supports all voices installed on your device. Most browsers include English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, and many more. The available voices depend on your operating system and browser.
Why do voices sound different on different browsers?
Each browser and operating system uses its own speech synthesis engine. Chrome uses Google's voices, Edge uses Microsoft's, and Safari uses Apple's. This means the same voice name may sound different across browsers.
Is SpeakIt completely free?
Yes! Text-to-speech playback is completely free with no limits. PRO adds convenience features like ad-free experience and future premium AI voices.
Can I download the audio?
Yes! Click the download button next to the play controls. Your browser will ask you to share the tab — select "This tab" and make sure "Share tab audio" is checked. The speech will play and be recorded, then automatically download as a .webm audio file when finished.
How do I change the voice?
Use the Voice dropdown to browse all available voices on your device. Voices are grouped by language. You can also adjust speed (0.5x-2x) and pitch to customize the output.
